Shelton Family Hosts Community Dinner

A Shelton family will hand out winter coats and serve a community dinner at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Shelton Saturday, Oct. 23.

The dinner was organized by Shelton resident Matt Roessler and his family.

My main goal is to share the love of God with people,” Roessler said.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 5 p.m. and run until 7 p.m. in the basement of the church at 183 Howe Avenue.

Similar events will be held in November and December as well.

The lord has done a mighty work in me, and I just want to be able to share that with others,” Roessler said. If I can do that through food and clothing, then so be it.”

Coats can be donated up until the start of the event. Roessler and his family will be setting up at Trinity Lutheran all afternoon, and welcome any donations or help setting up.

He also explained that guests are welcome to bring a dessert or baked item if they want to help further. If no one is at the church, Roessler suggests leaving the clothes outside the door to be picked up.

Roessler plans to talk to the guests about his spiritual journey and encourage them to reach out to those in need around them.
