Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from last week.
On 05/01/17 at 1:00 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Inline Plastics Company #40 Canal Street. There was no fire. A fault in a fire sprinkler alarm valve caused the call. One engine responded.
On 05/01/17 at 1:26 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 south bound near exit 12. One engine and one utility truck responded.
On 05/01/17 at 4:42 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Huntington Street at Roaring Brook Lane. One engine responded.
On 05/01/17 at 8:40 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #40 Freedom Way for an odor of gas in the home. Firefighters found the odor was due to a lawn mower leaking gasoline in the basement of the home. Two engines responded.
On 05/02/17 at 9:26 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm at #466 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. A malfunction in the alarm system was the cause. One ladder truck responded.
On 05/02/17 at 10:08 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Saint Lawrence Rectory at #505 Shelton Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. One unit responded.
On 05/03/17 at 6:56 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #29 Basking Ridge Road. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. Two engines responded.
On 05/03/17 at 7:36 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #6 Snowberry Lane. There was no fire. the cause of the alarm was not determined. Two engines, one rescue truck and one ladder truck responded.
On 05/04/17 at 01:12 am the Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a report of a house fire at #242 River Road. Upon arrival firefighters found a fire had occurred on a kitchen stove from food cooking on the stove left unattended. The fire caused minor damage to the cabinets adjacent to the stove. Two engines and two ladders responded.
On 05/04/17 at 10:30 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Inline Plastics Company #40 Canal Street. There was no fire. A fault in a fire sprinkler alarm valve caused the call. One tower truck and one ladder truck responded.
On 05/05/17 at 12:33 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1, Huntington Co. #3 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel at #25 Old Stratford Road. There was no fire. the alarm was accidentally activated. One engine responded.
On 05/05/17 8:06 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a report of power line struck by a tree on Booth Hill Road. One engine responded.
On 05/06/17 at 8:06 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 assisted EMS at the Sunnyside Boat Launch for an person injured during a river cleanup.
On 05/06/17 at 3:01 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a report of power lines down on Brookfield Drive. One engine responded.
On 05/06/17 at 7:44 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded a mutual aid assist to Trumbull. One engine and one ladder truck responded.
On 05/06/17 at 8:22 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #198 Kneen Street to assist EMS personnel with a patient. One engine responded.
05/06/17 at 8:26 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #738 Bridgeport Avenue for a residential fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Water leaking into a smoke detector caused the alarm. One engine, one ladder truck and one tower truck responded.
On 05/07/17 at 11:34 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #39 Beacon Hill Terrace for a smoke investigation. There was no fire. Two engines responded.
On 05/07/17 at 5:20 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Birchbank Road for a power line down. Two engines responded.
