Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from last week.
On 12/13/16 at 1:12 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to # 95 Country Place for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. One engine responded.
On 12/13/16 at 2:09 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a residential fire alarm sounding at the Helen DeVaux Housing Complex at #91 Howe Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking in apartment #19 caused the alarm. Two engines responded.
On 12/13/16 at 2:44 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a small brush fire in the rear of #75 Myrtle Street. Two engines responded.
On 12/13/16 at 4:56 pm the Huntington Co. #3, the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a residential fire alarm sounding at #120 Heather Ridge. There was no fire. Two engines and one ladder truck responded.
On 12/13/16 at 7:08 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #51 Church Street to assist police in gaining entry to a home to check on its home owner. One rescue truck responded.
On 12/15/16 at 00:56 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an electrical hazard at The Mark Housing Complex at #7 Arcadia Lane. A water leak in building #5 caused the call. One engine and one ladder truck responded.
On 12/16/16 at 2:08 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4, , Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire in a pile of rubbish inside an outbuilding at the Winter Brothers Waste Systems #46 Olive Terrace. The small fire was extinguished by employees prior to the arrival of firefighters. One engine and one ladder truck responded.
On 12/16/16 at 11:25 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to an odor in the house at #23 Great Oak Road. Firefighters found no odors within the home. One engine responded.
On 12/17/16 at 5:44 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to motor vehicle accident on route 8 south bound near exit 13. Three engines responded.
On 12/17/16 at 11:40 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to motor vehicle accident on route 8 north bound near exit 11. One engine and one rescue truck responded.
On 12/17/16 at 2:11 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to motor vehicle accident on route 8 south bound near exit 13. One engine and one rescue truck responded.
On 12/17/16 at 11:26 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Center Stage at #54 Grove Street for a commercial fire alarm sounding. One ladder truck responded.
On 12/18/16 at 3:17 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to power lines down from a fallen tree on Booth Hill Road. One engine responded.
