Shelton Fire Department Calls For Service

SHELTON — Here is the weekly roundup of calls for service for the Shelton Fire Department, courtesy of Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora.

SHELTON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT INCIDENT RESPONSES

On 12/2/24 at 5:57 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Leavenworth Road in the area of #374.

On 12/2/24 at 9:48 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to an automatic fire alarm activated at #88 Long Hill Cross Road. There was no fire.

On 12/3/24 at 1:03 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a report of a structure fire at #442 Shelton Avenue. Upon arrival firefighters found no fire.

On 12/3/24 at the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on River Road at Quail Court.

On 12/3/24 at 12:27 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #148 Woodland Park for a public assist.

On 12/3/24 at 1:39 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4responded to a fire alarm activated at #15 Progress Drive. There was no fire.

On 12/3/24 at 2:56 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a hazmat incident at #102 Village Drive.

On 12/3/24 at 4:53 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to an elevator rescue at #10 Progress Drive.

On 12/3/24 at 10:15 the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to motor vehicle accident on Kings Highway near Meadow Street.

On 12/5/24 at 7:20 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Soundview Avenue at Park Avenue.

On 12/5/24 at 11:15 am the White Hills Co. #5, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a structure fire at #19 Village Drive. Upon arrival firefighters found the roof of a single-family home on fire. Firefighters entered the home and extinguished the fire which was in the attic. There were no injuries. The house sustained extensive fire, smoke and water damage. The Red Cross responded to supply temporary housing and supplies for the family that was displaced. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was caused by an electrical short in a bathroom exhaust fan.

On 12/5/24 at 8:34 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to an odor investigation at #145 Canal Street.

On 12/5/24 at 9:18 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to an automatic fire alarm activated at #560 River Road. There was no fire.

On 12/6/24 at 3:09 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to assist the Derby Fire Department at a house fire on Roosevelt Drive.

On 12/6/24 at 12:31 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm activated at #423 Howe Avenue. There was no fire.

On 12/6/24 at 12:52 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Coram Road near South Constitution Boulevard.

On 12/6/24 at 3:51 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Huntington Street at Gristmill Lane.

On 12/6/24 at 10:54 pm the White Hills Co. #5, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded a second time to a structure fire at #19 Village Drive. A fire had occurred at this same structure a day earlier. Upon arrival firefighters found a portion of the second floor of a single-family home on fire. Firefighters entered the home and extinguished the fire. The home sustained further damage as a result. There were no injuries. The Pine Rock Co. #4 stood by and covered the city. The Monroe FD also covered for Shelton. An investigation by the Shelton Fire Marshal’s Office, the Shelton Polce Department and with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Fire & Explosives K9 Unit it was determined the fire was intentionally set. The investigation is continuing. 

On 12/7/24 at 8:19 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm activated at #91 Howe Avenue. There was no fire.

On 12/7/24 at 9:10 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on route 8 north bound near exit 7.

On 12/7/24 at 10:55 am the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to an automatic fire alarm activated at #29 Beardsley Road.

On 12/7/24 at 12:34 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an odor investigation at #415 Howe Avenue.
