Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from last week.
On 01/30/17 at 3:11 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a brush fire at #170 Mohegan Road. One engine responded.
On 01/31/17 at 11:43 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on route 8 north bound in the area of exit 12. One engine and one rescue truck responded.
On 01/31/17 at 11:50 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on route 8 north bound in the area of exit 12. One engine and one rescue truck responded.
On 02/01/17 at 4:52 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on route 8 north bound in the area of exit 12. One engine and one rescue truck responded.
On 02/02/17 at 12:18 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #714 Long Hill Avenue for an odor of natural gas in the house. No odor or source of a leak was found by firefighters. One engine, one rescue truck and one ladder truck responded.
On 02/03/17 at 7:08 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a report of a possible shed fire on Walnut Tree Hill Road. No such fire was found. A wood furnace being ignited caused the call. Two engines responded.
On 02/03/17 at 10:15 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the America Stay Hotel at #945 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. Two engines and one ladder truck responded.
On 02/04/17 at 10:03 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Kneen Street near Forest Avenue. One engine and two rescue trucks responded.
On 02/04/17 at 1:30 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a report of smoke in the area on Birchbank Road. Smoke from a wood stove chimney caused the call. Two engines responded.
On 02/04/17 at 4:26 pm Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a report of an open burning fire on Andrew Drive. Firefighters checked the area but found no fire. One engine responded.
On 02/05/17 at 7:50 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #80 Lakeview Avenue for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. One rescue truck responded.
On 02/05/17 at 9:57 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #23 Great Oak Road for an odor in the house. One engine responded.
