
Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from the last week.
On 10/09/17 at 1:40 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Panchero’s Restaurant at #704 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. Steam from cooking caused the alarm. Two engines, a rescue truck and a ladder truck responded.
On 10/09/17 at 3:50 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #21 Wakelee Avenue for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. A rescue truck responded.
On 10/09/17 at 3:56 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #357 River Road. There was no fire. A faulty detector was the cause. An engine and a rescue truck responded.
On 10/09/17 at 4:30 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #15 Armstrong Road. There was no fire. Two engines, a rescue truck and a ladder truck responded.
On 10/09/19 at 5:30 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to Maler Lane to assist police with removal of a tree blocking the road. A rescue truck responded.
On 10/09/17 at 5:38 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #15 Armstrong Road. There was no fire. An engine and a rescue truck responded.
On 10/10/17 at 05:14 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Pitney Bowes Corporation at #27 Waterview Drive. There was no fire. A ladder truck responded.
On 10/10/17 at 4:49 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Coram Avenue and Hill Street. A rescue truck responded.
On 10/10/17 at 5:38 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #126 Lane Street. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine responded.
On 10/10/17 at 6:14 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #80 Rugby Road. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. Two engines responded.
On 10/11/17 at 1:15 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Bridgeport Avenue at Trap falls Road. Two engines and a rescue truck responded.
On 10/11/17 at 2:03 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a public service call at #93 Myrtle Street. An engine responded.
On 10/11/17 at 7:56 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #36 Elm Street for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. A unit responded.
On 10/12/17 at 00:21 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a car fire in the municipal parking lot on Cornell Street. Firefighters arrived and found two vehicles on fire. The fire had originated in one vehicle then spread to an adjacent vehicle before the fire could be extinguished. The fire destroyed both vehicles and their contents. Two engines and a rescue truck responded.
On 10/12/17 at 12:58 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to power lines down on Mill Street near Buddington Road. An engine responded.
On 10/12/17 at 2:49 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to assist EMS at #103 Lane Street. A rescue truck responded.
On 10/12/17 at 4:50 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Sinsabaugh Heights Housing Complex at #187 Meadow Street. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. Two engines responded.
On 10/12/17 at 5:01 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a report of a brush fire on Leavenworth Road near Maple Avenue. Firefighters checked the area but found no fire. Two engines responded.
On 10/12/17 at 6:03 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #149 Buddington Road to assist police in a search for a missing person. The person was located shortly after fire units arrived. A rescue truck and a utility truck responded.
On 10/13/17 at 3:52 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to fire alarm sounding at #76 Wooster Street. There was no fire. an engine responded.
On 10/14/17 at 11:14 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Sinsabaugh Heights Housing Complex at #187 Meadow Street. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. Two engines responded.
On 10/14/17 at 6:38 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a report of open burning at #76 Maple Lane. An engine responded.
On 10/15/17 at 3:18 pm the Huntington Co. #3, the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #874 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. An engine, a rescue truck and a ladder truck responded.
