Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from last week.
On 08/27/18 at 9:42 am the Echo Hose Co#1 and the White Hills Co #5 responded to the Sinsabaugh Heights Housing Complex at #187 Meadow Street for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine responded.
On 08/27/18 at 1:44 pm the Huntington Fire Co #3 and the Echo Hose Co #1 responded to #37 Lane Street for an illegal open burning. An engine and a utility truck responded.
On 08/28/18 AT 2:49 pm the Echo Hose Co #1, Pine Rock Co #4 and the White Hills Co #5 responded to #25 Wakelee Avenue for a report of a fire alarm activation and smoke in the building. Upon arrival firefighters forced entry to a second floor apartment of a three family house and found food burning in a toaster caused the smoke. No one was home in the apartment at the time of the incident. An engine and a rescue truck responded.
On 08/28/18 at 3:24 pm the Echo Hose Co #1 and the White Hills Co #5 responded to #159 Center Street for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. A rescue truck responded.
On 08/28/18 at 4:01 pm the Huntington Fire Co #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Mill Street at Judson Street. A rescue truck responded.
On 08/28/18 at 5:33 pm the Huntington Fire Co #3, Echo Hose Co #1 and the Pine Rock Co #4 responded to the Hilton Garden Inn at #25 Old Stratford Road for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine and a rescue truck responded.
On 08/28/18 at 8:12 pm the Echo Hose Co #1 and the Pine Rock Co #4 responded to the Sunnyside School at #418 River Road for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine and a ladder truck responded.
On 08//29/18 at 4:05 pm the Pine Rock Co #4 responded to a mutual aid call to assist the Stratford Fire Department at a structure fire on Success Avenue Stratford. A rehab truck responded.
On 08/29/18 at 5:18 pm Pine Rock Co #4 responded to a mutual aid call to stand by at the Stratford Fire Department while they were at a structure fire. An engine responded.
On 08/29/18 at 6:12 pm the Huntington Fire Co #3 responded to a mutual aid call to stand by at the Stratford Fire Department while they were at a structure fire. An engine responded.
On 08/29/18 at 6:22 pm the Echo Hose Co #1, Pine Rock Co #4 and the White Hills Co #5 responded to #354 Coram Avenue for an appliance fire. Upon arrival firefighters found a fire had occurred in a kitchen oven was extinguished prior to arrival. An engine, a ladder truck and a rescue truck responded.
On 08/29/18 at 7:06 pm the Huntington Fire Co #3 responded to #525 Antelope Trail for a public service call; assistance with an alarm system. An engine responded.
On 08/29/18 at 8:00 pm the Huntington Fire Co #3 responded to the Courtyard by Marriott for an odor of gasoline in the parking lot. Firefighters found no leaks or odor after checking the lot. An engine responded.
On 08/30/18 at 8:36 am the Pine Rock Co #4, Echo Hose Co #1 and the White Hills Co #5 responded to the Anco Engineering Company at #217 Long Hill Cross Road for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.
On 08/30/18 at 3:59 pm the Pine Rock Co #4 responded to the area of #810 Long Hill Avenue for an electrical hazard; tress on wires or a power line down in the road. An engine responded.
On 08/30/18 at 3:37 pm the Echo Hose Co #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Meadow Street and Shelton Avenue. A rescue truck responded.
On 08/30/18 at 4:49 pm the Echo Hose Co #1 and the White Hills Co #5 responded to #49 Fort Hill Avenue for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. An engine and a rescue truck responded.
