Shelton Gymnast Selected To State Team

Shelton High School senior Yarden Tepper has been doing gymnastics since she was 2 years old.

Last week her hard work paid off when she was selected to the 2013 Connecticut National High School Gymnastics Team.

The team will compete at the Senior Showcase in Fort Meyers, FL on May 17 and 18.

The competition features some of the nation’s most outstanding high school gymnasts.

Yarden has earned a number of awards as a SHS gymnast.

She has been selected to the All-SCC team, All-State team, All-American, CT POST MVP, CT Post All Star Team and New Haven Register All Area Team.

She was also named the SCC All-Around Champion and SCC MVP.

Three girls from Shelton were All State and managed to grab more titles than much larger teams,” Yarden said. With a very small group of gymnasts we successfully competed with much larger teams and were able to stand out.

It was a tough task putting Shelton on the map in terms of gymnastics and I am very proud of the accomplishment and being a part of it,” Yarden added. Shelton gymnastics is now a force to be reckoned with. It means the world to me to represent my town in a national competition.”

Shelton High School Headmaster Beth Smith commented that Yarden is a dedicated athlete who excels in gymnastics. Her hard work has earned her the honor of representing her school and state on the national level. I congratulate Yarden on this wonderful accomplishment and wish her the best of luck in Florida.”
