Thirty-eight students were inducted into the Shelton High School National Honor Society at a reception at the Stone Barn Restaurant in Monroe on Wednesday, December 14, 2011.
The student-lead ceremony began with a welcome by NHS president Molly Hellauer.
Following dinner, Shelton High School Headmaster Dr. Beth Smith offered congratulatory remarks.
She indicated that “these students meet the high academic and behavioral expectations as set forth in our school’s mission statement. It is now their job to be living examples of scholarship, leadership, service and character. We are proud of our inductees and expect them to continue to strive for excellence.”
Hellauer then communicated the history of the National Honor Society.
The four pillars of the National Honor Society, scholarship, leadership, service and character were defined by Hellauer, Rebecca Ercoloni, NHS secretary, and Jesse Teo, NHS treasurer.
