Shelton High School Takes Stand Against Intolerance

Shelton High School staff members embraced diversity Friday by donning T‑shirts showing how much they disdain intolerance.

Headmaster Beth Smith said each SHS staff member — teachers, administrators, secretaries, security, tutors, paraprofessionals, custodians, etc. — wore T‑shirts that say I won’t stand for _________ ” with a word of their choice filling in the blank to indicate what they won’t stand for, related to diversity — e.g. intolerance, disrespect.

At the end of the school day they posed for the picture above.

Rosemary Pagliaro, a member of the staff Diversity Committee, planned the day through an $800 grant from the Valley Community Foundation, Smith said.
