In recognition of black history month, the Shelton Historical Society will be talking about the perspectives of slavery statewide and in their town.
Taking a look at slavery in the state of Conn. from the Colonial times until it was outlawed statewide, the Shelton Historical Society will be sharing lives affected from slavery in Shelton.
The president of the historical society, Marty Coughlin, will be informing people about information such as who the town’s largest slave owner was, and what Elnathan Curtis did for Shelton during the time of the Revolution.
The gathering will be held on Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Plumb Memorial Library, located at 65 Wooster St. in Shelton.
A donation of $5 is required to help support the society and refreshments will be served.
