Shelton Police Make Burglary Arrest, Probe Other Break-Ins

A 21-year-old woman was charged Monday with breaking into a residence in a mobile home park on Bridgeport Avenue.

Police said Cassandra Campbell broke into a trailer and stole several liquor bottles on Jan. 2.

In a statement, Detective Ben Trabka said Campbell and others” have been linked a number of car burglaries in the same mobile home park.

More arrests are expected.

Campbell was charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny. She also had two warrants for her arrest for allegedly not showing up for court appearances in Derby and Waterbury.

Campbell was scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 17.

Trabka said police are also investigating a rash of car burglaries along the Bridgeport Avenue business corridor.

Thieves are smashing windows to steal valuables left unattended. The parking lots of several fitness clubs and restaurants have been targeted.

Police ask that people not leave valuables such as GPS units, pocketbooks, cameras and laptop computers in the passenger compartment of their cars,” Trabka’s statement read.

Police advised people to take the items with them or lock them in the trunk.

Police do not believe Campbell is connected to the Bridgeport Avenue break-ins.
