A Shelton man was arrested Sunday on charges he assaulted two family members, allegedly dragging one about 15 feet with a car.
Patrick Hanna, 49, faces charges of second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, risk of injury to a minor, first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, and disorderly conduct in the case.
He was held on $100,000 bond after his arrest and arraigned Monday at Superior Court in Derby, where a judge kept Hanna’s bond at $100,000 and continued the case to Oct. 24.
Shelton Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said police became involved in the case about 10:20 a.m. Sunday when officers were dispatched to a Summer Street residence for a report of a domestic disturbance.
Kozlowsky said Hanna, who was allegedly intoxicated at the time, had been arguing with two female family members at the home and then grabbed a pocketbook belonging to one of them, which contained keys to a vehicle.
Hanna then allegedly went to leave the residence in the vehicle, but the two females, one of whom is a minor, tried to get into the car to stop him.
Hanna allegedly started the car and began driving off, dragging one of the females about 15 feet before she fell out of the car, which ended up hitting a tree, Kozlowsky said. Hanna also allegedly bit the minor female’s finger, Kozlowsky said.
Both of the persons Hanna is alleged to have assaulted were taken to the hospital for treatment. Their injuries were not serious, Kozlowsky said.
