SHELTON — Police took a suspect into custody about six hours after a bank was robbed Thursday.
Matthew Poloski, of Shelton, was charged with first-degree robbery, fifth-degree larceny, and illegal possession of narcotics after police, with the help of the public, identified him as the man featured in security camera images circulated by police on social media.
According to police, Poloski is suspected of entering the Wells Fargo Bank at 320 Coram Ave. at about 12:50 p.m. Thursday.
He allegedly handed a bank teller a note, demanding cash. The teller gave him money, and Poloski left, according to police.
“… only a few hours after putting the bank robbery surveillance photo out to the public, Shelton Police were able to corroborate information provided and make an arrest in a rapid manner,” Detective Richard Bango said in a prepared statement.
Poloski was taken into custody at about 7 p.m. Thursday. Further details were not released.
