SHELTON — Police on Tuesday accused a 28-year-old Cliff Street resident of selling narcotics throughout the greater Valley.
Carlos Baez Jr. was charged with three counts of criminal possession of firearm; two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell; sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school; stealing a firearm; operating a drug factory; and violating the requirements for registering a deadly weapon.
According to a press release, five law enforcement entities teamed to launch an investigation into Baez. They obtained a warrant to search an apartment on Cliff Street, which was served at 8 a.m. on Dec. 19.
Police said inside they found 580 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately .1 gram of suspected cocaine, narcotics packaging, an unspecified amount of money, ammunition, and two illegal firearms, one of which police said was stolen.
Police said Baez is on parole. He was scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 20.
The investigation included the Statewide Narcotics Task Force Southwest Office, the Statewide Urban Violence Cooperative Crime Control Task Force, the Bridgeport office of the Connecticut State Police Violent Crime Task Force, the Shelton Police Department and the DEA out of New Haven.
