Shelton Man Arrested After Hit-And-Run

Police said a Shelton man hit a pickup truck with his car, forcing the truck to crash into a utility pole, then fled the scene of the crash Monday night.

The accident occurred about 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of Coram Avenue and Myrtle Street. Officers who responded to the scene found a truck crashed into a utility pole,” according to a press release from Lt. Robert Kozlowsky.

The driver of the truck, Mark Floberg, 51, of Shelton was extricated from the vehicle and taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police at the scene found the front bumper of a Mazda, according to the press release, which said subsequent investigation determined Floberg was driving north on Coram Avenue and was struck by a Mazda going west on Myrtle Street.

Police said the impact from the car caused Floberg’s truck to hit and break the utility pole.

Police said they were able to locate the driver of the Mazda, Scott Condon, 25, of Shelton, after the crash.

Condon was charged with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and failure to obey a stop sign.

Condon posted $2,500 bond and is due to appear at Superior Court in Derby Sept. 4.

Floberg is still in the intensive care unit, according to police, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

Coram Avenue between Kneen Street and Myrtle Street has been closed while crews are repairing the utility pole.
