Shelton police arrested a Shelton man Thursday for allegedly growing marijuana in his Quaker Ridge Road home.
Police charged William Frascatore, 32, with cultivation of marijuana, operating a drug factory, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and risk of injury to a minor.
His wife, Julie Frascatore, 30, was charged with risk of injury to a minor.
Police said they found “a large quantity” of marijuana in the couple’s home after responding to a house alarm there on May 10, according to a statement released by Lt. Robert Kozlowsky Friday.
The patrol officer, upon finding a door ajar, went into the home to investigate and smelled a strong scent of marijuana and then found a stash of the drug, police said.
Shelton police got a search warrant for the home, and found 4 pounds of marijuana “in various stages of growth,” as well as items used to grow marijuana, according to the statement.
Detective Ben Trabka said the marijuana has a street value of about $10,000.
Frascatore had a grow room in his finished basement, Trabka said.
The risk of injury charges were filed because the couple lives in the home with their child, police said.
William and Julie Frascatore turned themselves in to Shelton police Thursday, after learning of arrest warrants. They will be arraigned at Superior Court in Derby on July 11.
