A Long Hill Avenue man was beaten by two masked men who robbed him of cash and jewelry early Wednesday, according to Shelton police.
Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said in a press release that officers were called to a residence on Long Hill Avenue in the area of Pine Rock Park about 6:15 a.m. on a report of a robbery.
Upon arrival a 40-year-old man “who had visible injuries from the attack” told officers that he works in the jewelry business and that as he was leaving his residence he was approached by two men wearing hoodies and ski masks in his driveway.
“The victim was carrying two bags containing cash and jewelry,” Kozlowsky said in the press release. “One of the attackers told the victim to hand over the bags. Then one of the attackers started beating the victim over the head with a handgun. The attackers took the bags and fled on foot.”
The man was hospitalized due to lacerations on his head that he suffered in the attack, Kozlowsky said.
Detectives also responded and processed the scene.
“Based upon the initial investigation, it appears that someone involved may have been familiar with the victim and that this was not a random act,” Kozlowsky said.
