Shelton Man Charged In Rash Of Burglaries

A 48-year-old Shelton man has been charged with what police called a rash of residential burglaries” in several towns last year.

Shelton cops charged the man, Kevin Lesko, with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, and third-degree criminal mischief Feb. 23 at Superior Court in Derby.

Lesko has been behind bars since Nov. 10, when he was arrested by Trumbull police on charges of first-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, and attempted third-degree burglary.

He also faces burglary charges in cases out of Orange, Woodbridge, Milford, and Fairfield.

He is currently being held at Bridgeport Correctional Center on bonds totaling $199,300.

In a prepared statement, Shelton Police Detective Christopher Nugent said cops from the towns where the break-ins took place were able to link Lesko to the crimes.

Lesko has pleaded not guilty in the cases, according to court records, and is scheduled to return to Superior Court in Derby April 15.

Nugent said residents should always be vigilant.

Residents are encouraged to contact their local Police Department if they observe suspicious vehicles or activity in their neighborhoods,” the detective’s statement said. Residents should also set their alarms if applicable, lock their doors, and take preventative steps to deter their residence from being a target of a burglary.”
