A Shelton man was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday (Dec. 9), according to police.
In a prepared statement, Detective Richard Bango identified the man who died as Ronald Richard, 48.
The collision occurred about 5:15 p.m. Friday as 45-year-old Christopher Goldspink, of Shelton, was driving south on Meadow Street and struck Richard as he was crossing the street, Bango said.
Richard was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The crash is under investigation.
“The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the accident,” Bango’s statement said. “No enforcement action has been taken at this time.”
Police asked witnesses or anyone else with information to contact the traffic division at 203 – 924-1544.
Richard was married with two children and worked in fiber optics as a telephone/cable splicer, according to his obituary. He was also described as an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hike, camp, bike, and listen to music.
