A 92-year-old Shelton man died Monday after being involved in a morning car accident, police said.
Police were dispatched to the area of Walnut Tree Hill Road and Short Street about 9:30 a.m. on a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident, according to a press release issued Monday afternoon by Lt. Robert Kozlowsky.
Firefighters and EMS also responded.
An “initial investigation” revealed that the 92-year-old man, who was not identified, was exiting a driveway in when his car, a Honda, collided with a Mazda being driven north on Walnut Tree Hill Road by an unidentified 24-year-old Shelton resident.
The 92-year-old man was extricated from his car, the press release said.
“He did not have any visible injuries and he was conscious and communicating with personnel at scene, but was transported to the hospital after complaining of chest pain,” the press release said.
The 24-year-old person complained of minor injuries, police said.
“It was later reported to police that the driver of the Honda succumbed to his injuries at the hospital,” the press release said.
The Shelton Police Traffic Division’s Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating.
