A 34-year-old Shelton man was pronounced dead at the scene after crashing his motorcycle on Route 34 near D Street in Derby Saturday.
Police identified the motorcycle rider as Henry Beckwith, of Long Hill Avenue.
The crash happened at 12:40 p.m., according to information distributed Saturday night by Lt. Salvatore Frosceno.
Beckwith was found lying in the street. He suffered trauma to his head, police said.
An accident reconstruction team is investigating. A portion of Route 34 was closed for about four hours.
