Shelton Man Gets Leadership Award At Quinnipiac

Andrew N. Turczak of Shelton received the Leadership Award during the Physician Assistant certificate ceremony recently at Quinnipiac University.

This award is presented annually to the physician assistant student who has helped develop future leaders within the profession and the community. It also recognizes that the future of the physician assistant profession lies in the leadership potential of its newest graduates.

Turczak completed Quinnipiac’s Physician Assistant Program and received a master of health science degree.

Physician assistants are licensed health care providers who practice medicine in the physician lead team model. They evaluate, diagnose, treat and manage acute and chronic illness. In hospitals, private practices, clinics and health maintenance organizations, physician assistants practice in all areas of medicine and surgery. PAs elicit patient histories, perform physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic studies, prescribe medications, coordinate care and counsel patients on wellness and disease prevention.
