A Shelton man pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge in federal court in New Haven Friday.
The charges stem from a raid by police and federal authorities last March at the man’s home that revealed he possessed 11 printed photographs, 913 images and 45 videos of children engaging in sexually explicit conduct, according to federal prosecutors.
The man, Arthur Galloway, 38, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton to one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography.
The raid — conducted by the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Shelton police, and the FBI — occurred March 14, 2012, during which authorities seized a laptop computer, external hard drive, and other items.
“Investigators determined that Galloway used the Internet to trade numerous images and video of child pornography, and he was arrested at that time,” a press release issued by federal prosecutors said.
Galloway’s sentencing is scheduled for April 17, at which time he faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
He has been released on bond and is being monitored electronically by probation officials.
The case was investigated by the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, the Shelton Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Connecticut Child Exploitation Task Force, which includes federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Felice M. Duffy.
