Shelton Men Charged With Stealing Scrap Metal

Two Shelton men were arrested Sunday (Sept. 29) afternoon on burglary charges after police say they stole scrap metal from a Perry Hill Road house.

Shelton Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said Officer Myles Dupont was on patrol in the area of Perry Hill Road and Walnut Avenue about 1:45 p.m. Sunday when he saw Matthew Wilson, 29, of Walnut Avenue, and Michael Busa, 34, of Howe Avenue, walking through the front yard of a residence carrying large, rolled-up plastic garbage bags.

Dupont turned around to investigate further, Kozlowsky said, and when Busa and Wilson saw him, they dropped the bags, which contained scrap metal allegedly stolen from a house on Perry Hill Road.

Kozlowsky said the home’s door had been broken, and that the scrap metal allegedly stolen was outside the house, but not in a location visible from the road.

Wilson was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and single counts of third-degree criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny.

Busa was charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, and sixth-degree larceny.

Wilson and Busa were held on bonds of $1,000 and $10,000, respectively, and were scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Derby Monday (Sept. 30).
