A psychiatrist is preparing a report on the mental state of a Shelton man accused of killing his wife, Lisa, in their house last year.
Thomas Infante appeared briefly Sept. 7 at Superior Court in Milford, where his lawyer, John Gulash, asked Judge Frank Iannotti to continue the case to Oct. 20 because a psychiatrist needs more time to examine the suspect.
It remains to be seen whether that report will be completed by the next court date.
The report will be given to State’s Attorney Kevin Lawlor for review.
Infante was charged with murder a year ago after police said he shot his wife of 27 years to death in the family’s Hickory Lane home.
Infante has pleaded not guilty.
He remains held on $1.5 million bond at Northern Correctional Institution in Somers.
Police said the couple were in the process of divorcing and had an argument last September at their house.
Infante shot and killed his wife, police alleged. Two of his four children were in the house at the time, according to court documents.
Lisa Infante was an active volunteer with Echo Hose Ambulance in Shelton.
