Shelton police arrested two men on drug charges Tuesday.
According to a prepared statement from Detective Christopher Nugent, at about 5:20 p.m. an undercover detective spotted Joshua Sanchez, 25, of Shelton, trying to drive out of an apartment building’s parking lot.
However, Sanchez could not make his way around an illegally parked work van.
Police did not say where in Shelton this happened other than “downtown.”
Sanchez was wanted in Ansonia for an unspecified crime, police said.
The undercover officer watched Sanchez walk up the unidentified Shelton street, apparently looking for the illegally parked van’s owner.
Sanchez was then “observed speaking to another male in a vehicle.”
Officers stopped Sanchez and took him into custody because of his outstanding warrant out of Ansonia.
Police found an unspecified amount of heroin and crack in Sanchez’ car.
Sanchez is charged with possession of narcotics and possession with intent to sell. He posted $10,000 bond and was turned over to the Ansonia Police Department.
“After further investigation,” according to a prepared statement, police further alleged 26-year-old Justin Geffert of Shelton had just purchased heroin from Sanchez.
Geffert was also taken into custody. He’s charged with possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. He posted a $1,000 bond and is due in court today (Aug. 10).
“Shelton police are continuing to be proactive in investigating drug dealing and are asking anyone with any information to contact the department. Calls may be confidential,” Nugent said in a prepared statement.
