Shelton Police Arrest Pair On Weapons Charges

SHELTON – City police arrested two teens on weapons charges Tuesday.

Jaiden Lanzi, 18, of Shelton, was charged with theft of a firearm, illegal transfer of a stolen firearm, improper storage of a firearm, and risk of injury to a minor.

Jason Smith, 19, of Derby, was charged with theft of a firearm, illegal transfer of a stolen firearm, and improper storage of a firearm.

According to a press release from Shelton police, two firearms were stolen from a Shelton residence on Oct. 17.

During the investigation it was discovered that the firearms had transitioned through several individuals,” according to police.

Police said they obtained search warrants for vehicles and residences in Derby, North Haven and Shelton.

The two stolen firearms were located, according to police.

Police did not release additional details connecting the two teens to the crime, but said more arrests are possible.

Both suspects were scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 25.
