A Bridgeport man and two twins from Shelton were arrested Friday (Sept. 20) after police said they broke into a Meadow Street home and tried to rob a man who lives there.
Police said the man was able to get away from the would-be robbers and lock himself inside his bedroom, after which he called police and the men fled the scene.
Arrested were Brandon Celini, 20, of Bridgeport, and Austin Rose, 19, and Robert Rose, 19, both of Mohegan Road in Shelton.
All three faces charges of second-degree burglary, attempted second-degree robbery, and conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery.
Shelton Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said Monday (Sept. 23) that police were called to a home on Meadow Street about 11 a.m. reporting a burglary in progress.
Officers arrived and were told by the man who lived at the home that he had heard the back door of the house open and went to see who it was and recognized Celini and the Rose brothers, who had been in his house recently.
The three men were allegedly wearing black winter gloves and masks, Kozlowsky said.
They told the man to give them everything he had, Kozlowsky said, and at one point two of the men pulled out rolls of duct tape, but didn’t use them on the man.
Kozlowsky said the alleged victim said he’d comply with the men but then was able to get to his bedroom and lock the door, then called police, after which the men fled empty-handed.
Shelton Police Officer Daniel Loris arrested Austin and Robert Rose about 11:30 a.m. near Far Mill Street and Copper Penny Lane, and Bridgeport police located Celini just before 1 p.m.
The men posted $5,000 bonds and will appear at Superior Court in Derby Oct. 4.
