Shelton Police Charge Woman In Prostitution Sting

Shelton police charged a Roxbury woman with prostitution Thursday after setting up a sting at a Bridgeport Avenue hotel.

Police said they had received complaints of online prostitution deals being sealed in hotels, so detectives launched an investigation.

City police brought in help from the state police’s Statewide Organized Crime Investigative Task Force.

Cops responded to an online ad and set up a meeting at a local hotel, according to a prepared statement from Detective Chris Nugent.

They arrested Tammra Emmons, 40.

At the hotel Emmons and an undercover officer agreed upon a fee in exchange for a sexual act,” Nugent said.

Cops also said they found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the room.

Emmons was charged with prostitution, which is a class a misdemeanor, as well as possession of crack cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Derby April 2.

Anyone with information about any illegal activity is asked to call the Shelton Detective Bureau at 203 – 924-1544,” Nugent said. Calls may be confidential.”
