Shelton Police: Driver Forgot To Lower Dump Body

There were no injuries reported after a dump truck became snagged on utility lines and turned on its side in Shelton Saturday morning.

Jason Powell, 32, of Newtown, had just delivered a load of mulch when his upright dump body hit the wires.

Police said Powell forgot to put the dump body down after making the delivery.

The accident uprooted a utility pole and left it dangling in the air.

Powell was out of his truck when emergency crew arrived on the scene at about 10:30 a.m.

The crash happened on Old Stratford Road near Bridgeport Avenue.

A police report was not complete Monday morning, so there was no word as the whether tickets were issued.
