Baseball Bat Attack In Shelton

Photo: Ethan FryUpdate: A New Jersey man is under arrest after allegedly following his wife to a hotel in Shelton and then beating another man with a baseball bat in the parking lot.

Police said they arrived at the Hyatt House hotel on Bridgeport Avenue where they found a bloodied man lying on the ground at about 9 a.m.

A woman told them her husband had assaulted the man before driving away in a Mercury Marquis.

Police didn’t describe the relationship between the married woman and the assault victim.

Police put out an all points bulletin to alert other cops about the incident and the suspect.

About 15 minutes later the suspect — identified as Chadwick Adams, 28, of Pleasantville, N.J. — was pulled over on the Merritt Parkway.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Adams followed his wife to Shelton from New Jersey,” according to a statement from Shelton police. Once at the hotel in Shelton, Adams confronted her regarding an ongoing domestic dispute.”

The victim was hospitalized with non-­life threatening injuries, police said.

Adams is charged with first-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief, carrying a dangerous weapon and reckless endangerment. 

He was being held as of Thursday afternoon on a $100,000 bond pending a Dec. 18 court appearance.

Shelton police are investigating a reported assault in the area of 830 Bridgeport Ave.

According to emergency radio transmissions reported on Facebook by DoingItLocal.com, police were first called to the scene after a report of someone assaulting a person with a baseball bat, then trying to run over a person with a car.

Shelton police haven’t confirmed, but issued a statement saying they are investigating. 

The information I have is the victim is not deceased,” Capt. Robert Kozlowsky told reporters in an email.

No one in a nearby Chili’s restaurant offered comment. A manager at the nearby Hyatt House, a hotel, declined comment.

DoingItLocal, citing emergency radio transmissions, reported a suspect’s car was pulled over by state police.

State police would not confirm, but said they assisted Shelton. They referred a reporter to Shelton police.

Police were putting up crime scene tape at a parking lot at 830 Bridgeport Ave. about 12:45 p.m., but then removed the tape at 1:30 p.m.

A detective taking photos at the scene would not comment on the case.

On 12 – 17-15 at approximately 11:30am, Shelton Police were sent to the area of 830 Bridgeport Ave in Shelton for an assault. Police are currently investigating this incident and a press release will be forthcoming when more details are available.”
