Shelton Police: Man Caught In Vigilante Sting

SHELTON — A 72-year-old man was charged with enticing a minor after an investigation that started in the private sector.

Anthony Grillo, of Shelton, is also charged with fourth-degree attempted sexual assault.

According to a statement from police, Grillo was targeted by an organization that travels throughout the United States and expose individuals meeting up with juveniles for sex.”

As part of the sting, Grillo allegedly made plans to meet a person he thought was 13 years old at the Shelton Walmart off Bridgeport Avenue.

At Walmart, Officers were informed by members of the organization that they confronted Grillo, who arrived at Walmart to meet up with who he believed was a 13 year old juvenile female for sexual acts,” Shelton police said.

Authorities said their investigation determined that Grillo had been communicating with the person using Facebook and Telegram, a social media platform, dating back to November.

Grillo was arrested Dec. 17 and was arraigned in court on Dec. 18.
