Shelton Police: Pair Fired Gun From Moving Car

SHELTON — Two men were charged this week with firing a gun from a moving vehicle after drinking at area bars.

In a prepared statement, Shelton Police Detective Richard Bango said police received a report of shots fired at about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 22 in the area of Willoughby Road and Independence Drive.

Detectives found spent shell casings near stop signs in the area.

The investigation revealed that 31-year-old Michael White, of Seymour, and 27-year-old Kenneth Banks, of Shelton, were shooting a gun out of a moving vehicle,” according to police.

The prepared statement from police did not detail how investigators connected the two men to the crime.

Detectives seized all the registered firearms from Banks and White,” police said. Additionally, seized from White was an unregistered banned assault rifle.”

The pair turned themselves in this week,” police said.

Both were charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, carrying a firearm under an intoxicating liquor, second-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace.

White was also charged with illegal possession of an assault weapon.

Both are due in court later this month.
