Shelton Police To Raise $ for “Operation Home for the Holidays”

The Shelton Police Department is proud to announce that they will be helping raise money for Operation Home for the Holidays’ this year. 

The Shelton Police Department is accepting donations on behalf of Operation Home for the Holidays’ and will give that money to help bring our troops home.

Operation Home for the Holidays’ was created to raise $200,000 to hire a fleet of buses to bring Connecticut Army National Guard troops back to the state for the Christmas Holidays during a break in their training. 

The troops are at mobilization stations in Indiana and Wisconsin where they are completing preparations for deployment to Afghanistan.

Shelton Police Chief Joel Hurliman is retired from the Connecticut Army National Guard and was instrumental is getting the police department to help support this worthy cause.

I think it is important for the troops and their families to be together at home during the holidays,” Hurliman said in a statement. Members of the department are proud to support our troops for the great job that they do. Officers have already begun donating money to this cause.”
