Do you know what an Ollie, a Goofy or kick-flip are?

If so, the Shelton Recreation Department wants you.

SKATE PARK — The Shelton Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a Skateboard enthusiast who can teach 6 – 16 year olds the basic skills of skateboarding. 

Applicants must be able to teach the following tricks: Ollie, Carving, Goofy, Kick-flip, Grinding, Half-pipe, etc.

DOG PARK — The Shelton Dog Park Committee has set up a fund for donations for the creation of a Dog Park in the city.
The proposed two acre site will be at city owned property on Nells Rock Road.

Funding is needed for site amenities including fencing, signage, benches, and waste receptacles. The anticipated opening is late summer. 

There are two options for those wishing to donate.

1) Checks can be made payable to the City of Shelton Dog Park Fund’ and sent to the Parks and Recreation Department at 41 Church Street, Shelton, CT 06484.

2) A Buy a Brick’ program has been set up where individuals or groups can purchase bricks to be installed at the park. The cost is $50 for an individual 4” x 8” brick or $100 for an 8” x 8” group or corporate brick. The Buy a Brick’ forms are at the Shelton Community Center and City Hall or can be completed at the city’s web site at www.cityofshelton.org, Community Services, Recreation Center, Dog Park. For more information please call Mandy Oram at 203 – 922-2643 or Kathy Yolish at 203 – 929-4701.
 

TENNIS TEAM STARTING — The Shelton Parks and Recreation Department and the United States Tennis Association New England are forming a Jr. Team Tennis League. 

USTA Jr. Team Tennis is a recreational tennis league for children ages 8 – 18. 

The season, beginning in June, will consist of 6 matches held on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. 

The cost is $44.95 per person which includes USTA membership and team shirt. 

Children play on co-ed teams offering a fun and competitive environment. 

USTA Jr. Team Tennis allows participants (beginner, intermediate and advanced) to compete with and against individuals of similar skill and age levels. 
Teams have the opportunity to advance to state, sectional and national championship events.
