The owner of the Sona Bella Salon and Spa on Coram Avenue is accepting gift certificates from a shuttered salon in Shelton.
Rosa Connors said she started accepting gift certificates this weekend from the Simply Body Day Spa, which suddenly went out of business last week.
The gift certificates must be presented at time of service and are good for a one-time hair or spa service of the customer’s choice, Connors said.
Customers found out about the closure on Wednesday, when the arrived at a locked and darkened spa, according to news reports.
Connors advertised the promotion in an email to customers and on Facebook.
Sona Bella offers hair work, facials, body care, spray tanning, various types of massage, waxing, pedicures and manicures, Connors said.
It’s not the only salon to accept gift certificates from Simply Body Day Spa. Inner Essence Spa in Orange also said it would honor 50 percent of the certificate value, according to WTNH. Click play on the video below to see WTNH’s story on the Orange spa.
“So far I’ve gotten a great response,” Connors said Monday.
Attorney General George Jepsen’s office has received 14 complaints about the spa closing as of Tuesday afternoon, according to spokesperson Susan Kinsman.
She said the office is gathering information about the closure to try to help people involved.
The Attorney General’s office sent a letter and made phone calls to the owner of the salon last week, Kinsman said, but has not received any response.
