I am proud to announce the Shelton High School Spring SCC Scholar Athletes of the Month for April 2011 — Nick Douglas and Sonali Rodrigues.

Name: Nick Douglas
Sports: Indoor Track, Outdoor Track & Field 
Class rank: 38 out of 394 
GPA: 3.70
Activities: Indoor Track Team Captain, Outdoor Track & Field Team Captain, 4x SCC All-Academic Team, SCC Eastern Sectional Champion, CAPT Scholar, National Honor Society, Boys’ State representative, Ping Pong Club, will attend Bryant University and will participate in the school’s track team.
Praise: Nick takes his captain’s responsibilities very seriously. He has outstanding character and is a good role model for the younger members of the team. He represents the town of Shelton very well,” said Shelton High School Track and Field Coach Mike Gambardella.

Activities: Girls’ Soccer Captain, Indoor Track Captain, Outdoor Track & Field Captain, CAPT Scholar, 8x SCC All-Academic Team, 2x SCC Academic All-Star Team, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Spanish National Honor Society, Student Council Representative, Gael Winds Newspaper Editor-in-Chief, Make-a-Difference Club Secretary, AP Scholar w/Honors, Cornell Book Award, will attend Northeastern University

The SCC Scholar Athlete of the Month program is sponsored by the Sportscenter of Connecticut and recognizes student athletes who have a minimum of a B (3.0) overall and earn a varsity letter. Student athletes also demonstrate leadership qualities by being a positive role model both on and off the field and show commitment to self-improvement and put their team before themselves.
