Shelton Police are asking residents to be sure to lock their doors and windows and use their alarm systems at their homes due to a recent upswing in residential and commercial burglaries.
Since Sept. 1, Police have received complaints of eight residential burglaries or attempted daytime burglaries.
Residents are asked to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods immediately.
Suspicious activity would include unfamiliar persons knocking and ringing doorbells at houses and upon the occupant answering, the person asks for a fictitious name or address. Also unfamiliar persons seen walking in quiet residential neighborhoods. Most of these burglaries appear to have occurred between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Police also received 11 commercial night-time burglary complaints since Sept. 1st.
Police are actively working with other area police departments who are experiencing similar type crimes.
