Shelton Students Receive Unified Sports Awards

Two Shelton High School students were recently honored at the CIAC Michael’s Cup Unified Sports banquet held on Monday, April 24, at the Aqua Turf in Southington.

The Michaels Cup Unified Sports Banquet honors middle and high school students for the moving essays they submit detailing how their experiences with Unified Sports helped them to change attitudes and change lives.

Jenna Sinko received a $500 scholarship on behalf of the Connecticut Association of Schools and Special Olympics Connecticut for being a finalist in the essay contest. Jenna’s essay described her involvement in the Special Olympics program as a partner on the Shelton High School Unified Sports Team. Her scholarship was presented by George Synott, CIAC Assistant Director of Unified Sports.

Jenna and Kyle Roberts received awards from Beau Doherty, President of Special Olympics Connecticut, for being outstanding unified partners.
