The Shelton High School Boys Swim Team wrapped up its regular season Thursday, defeating West Haven 89 – 63 at the Shelton Community Center pool.
The Gaels ended the season on a high note with an eight-game winning streak after five losses in the beginning of the season.
The boys swam awesome Thursday, with many achieving their best times of the season.
A special highlight was the 100 butterfly with Jr. Cole Chavez (59.08) against Sr. Capt. Matt Hellauer (58.53), and the 100 Backstroke with Jr. Tim Maloney against Sr. Capt Matt Hellauer.
Both Maloney and Hellauer broke the existing 100 backstroke record with times of 58.62 and 58.34 respectfully. Hellauer was victorious in both and will achieve his fourth consecutive MVP award at the team banquet next month, having earned 162 points this season.
