Shelton Teen Arrested For Alleged Twitter Threat

A 17-year-old Shelton High School student was charged with second-degree breach of peace Nov. 2 for allegedly posting a threatening statement on Twitter.

According to a prepared statement from the Shelton Police Department, a parent complained to police Nov. 1 about the post, which allegedly read: I have a gun and I think I’m going to use it tomorrow.”

The parent showed the Tweet to police and said it was from a Shelton High School student.

A subsequent investigation revealed the Twitter message was posted by a 17-year-old juvenile male that attends Shelton High School,” police said in a statement.

The student was arrested and released on a written promise to appear in juvenile court in Bridgeport later this month,” police said.

During the investigation it was determined the juvenile did not possess a gun,” police said.

The high school administrators were notified of the incident.

The juvenile’s name was not released.
