More than 500 middle school Robotics team students from across Connecticut will descend on Shelton High School Sunday, Dec. 7 to compete in the CT FIRST Lego League State Robotics Championship event.
Students will participate in the FLL World Class competition after competing successfully at regional qualifying events over the past six weeks. There are more than 200 registered teams in Connecticut and the top 50 qualifiers will be in Shelton to compete for the top spot.
Shelton High School is located at 120 Meadow St.
Only one overall Champions award winner will be selected to represent Connecticut at the FLL World Festival in St. Louis, MO in late April.
In the competition, students design, build, & program LEGO based robots to perform tasks related to this year’s challenge: World Class. Using LEGO parts, motors, and controllers; students race against the clock to score points on a field of challenges designed for robotic competition. Additionally, students also must research innovative educational strategies and make presentations to panels of judges as a part of the overall team score.

Students from Shelton compete on four different teams which have all previously qualified for the event. The Perry Hill Predators and the Perry Hill Brainiacs, along with the Shelton Intermediate Robotic Revolution and Shelton Dominators will represent their respective schools at the state championship.
Admission to the event is free and opening ceremonies begin at 9:00 AM with competitions continuously throughout the day. Awards and closing ceremonies are scheduled for 5:00 PM
