December marks the first month of winter parking rules in Shelton.

The rules basically state that from December to March, parking from midnight to 6 a.m. is restricted to one side of city streets.
In odd-numbered months, residents must park on the odd side of the street from midnight to 6 a.m.
In even-numbered months, residents must park on the even side of the street.
In the event of a “snow emergency,” which would be announced by the city, the law says “there shall be no on street parking in sections of the city where access to off-street parking is available including driveways and parking lots, unless otherwise exempted by the police department.”
The fine for violating winter parking rules is $25 for the first violation and $50 for repeat violations.
