I have never seen an animal like the one I saw on Monday — unless there was a glass wall between us.
I’ve lived here for 10 years and have seen many coyote in my yard.
A neighbor and myself also saw a bobcat here two years ago, so I know what a bobcat looks like: a giant cat with a short tail.
Monday’s cat was the size of a medium dog. It had pointy ears, a cat-like face and a tail so long that it’s black tip would’ve dragged on the ground had it not curled up like a ‘J’.
I respect the Town of Shelton’s opinion about what I saw. I can’t say what it was but I can say what it wasn’t; it was not a coyote, bobcat, deer, bear, fox, turtle, turkey or a house cat (unless the owners put it on steroids).
It was a giant cat with a long tail. Take it for whatever it’s worth.
I looked at photos of mountain lions online. What I saw Monday looked like the mountain lion photos.
I’m not sure why when people say they see a mountain lion in Connecticut they are categorized with people who say they saw Bigfoot.
After seeing what I saw on Monday, I no longer believe the mountain lion that was killed in Milford was rogue from the Dakotas.
I’ve read about many sightings on CTMountainLion.org. We certainly have the habitat here to support their eating habits. For a cougar, getting deer here would be like shooting fish in a barrel.
Flamini posted her account on CTMountainLion.org as well. Click here to read the column.
