A Shelton woman suffered two broken bones below her knee after being struck by a car near the intersection of Coram Avenue and Cornell Street.
Barbara Lubinski, 60, was walking her dog down Coram Avenue at about 4:20 p.m. Thursday when she picked up the animal to cross Cornell Street.
Lubinski made it halfway across the street when she was hit by a vehicle turning onto Cornell from Coram. That information comes from Lubinski’s daughter, Kristen Kushpinsky.
“My mom didn’t even see the car that hit her coming, she was already halfway across the street when this happened,” Kushpinsky said in an email. “The police and emergency personnel responded. Shelton PD took statements from all witnesses. No charges have been filed, to my knowledge.”
As of Friday morning, Lubinski was in Bridgeport Hospital, awaiting surgery on her right tibia.
“The dog is fine. She was taken in by the neighbor,” Kushpinsky said.
The accident comes two days after Shelton officials discussed pedestrian safety on Howe Avenue.
