Shelton Wrestler, Robotics Team Recognized

Last month, the Board of Education recognized wrestler Patrick Gillen and the Shelton High School Robotics Team for their achievements at a national level.

Gillen earned All-American honors after competing in the National High School Coaches Association national tournament in Virginia in March.

It was Gillen’s third year in a row to receive the honor. (Read an article about Gillen and the other All-Americans on the Connecticut Wrestling Online.)

Gillen was also previously named an Academic All-American by the National High School Coaches Association for his athletic and academic achievements.

The Board of Education also recognized the Shelton High School Robotics Team, the Gaelhawks, for competing in the FIRST World Championship in April at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.

The team qualified for the championship after winning at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Regional Robotics Competition in Massachusetts.
