Shelton’s Ration Distribution Center Moved To Meadow Street

Shelton will continue to distribute food, ice and water to residents without power on Friday.

The distribution center has been moved to the Echo Hose Ambulance headquarters at 100 Meadow St.

The supplies are available to all residents who show identification.

They can be picked up between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday.

Since the storm hit, a steady 40 percent of United Illuminating customers in Shelton were without power. Wednesday those numbers began to drop, as crews started working on wire repairs throughout the city.

By Thursday morning, the number of people in Shelton without power had dropped 2,600, or about 15 percent of United Illuminating customers.

Assistant ambulance chief Joe Laucella said it could be several days until the power is restored to everyone.
