ANSONIA — A 30-year-old man was shot to death on Hodge Avenue on Friday (July 14), police said.
Abduljalil Humphrey was shot in the driveway of 124 Hodge Ave at about 1:40 p.m. He was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at Griffin Hospital.
Police had received multiple 911 calls from residents reporting shots fired.
“During the initial investigation two cars were identified as being involved in the incident and the Ansonia Police Department is attempting to locate the cars,” Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a prepared statement.
One vehicle — a 2019 black Hyundai Elantra — belonged to the victim and was stolen from the scene. Its Connecticut registration is BK 30761. UPDATE: Police issued a statement Saturday, July 15 at 11 a.m. saying the Hyundai was recovered.
Police said the second car they are looking for is a stolen 2018 Chevrolet Malibu Premier. It is red and has a Connecticut registration of BD 24248.
Police said the suspect in this homicide was driving the Malibu just before the shooting.
“It was occupied by at least one other person who drove it away from the scene,” Lynch said. “If either car is seen please do not approach the car, contact your local police department.”
