Shots Fired At Car On Route 8

A bullet grazed a motorist’s neck during a shooting on Route 8 overnight.

No arrests have been made as of 9 a.m.

Radio dispatchers who sent the troopers described it as a road rage” incident.

According to a prepared statement from state police, cops received a 911 call at about 1:15 a.m. from a person traveling in a car northbound on the highway in Shelton.

The caller — one of five men in the car — told police that a person riding in a Buick sedan had just fired several rounds at them.

The victim’s car traveled to exit 22 in Seymour.

Seymour police stopped both vehicles, securing the occupants,” according to state police. One of those vehicles was apparently stopped on South Main Street.

The person grazed by the bullet was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The prepared statement did not elaborate on the status of the person or people traveling in the Buick.

Detectives conducted interviews and searched for evidence both in Seymour and along Route 8 northbound,” according to state police.

A police dog was brought to the scene as well.
